Project Aims.

As the world’s largest cosmetics company, L’Oreal has a culture of continuous development in the workplace.

To actively promote this value, our client wanted to provide their colleagues with a system which allowed users to book attendance onto internal training courses. The system itself needed to be easy to use and would take users down a logical route when booking onto a course.

This system would essentially be used to keep colleagues at L’Oreal up to date with any new learning opportunities to meet their development requirements. To ensure the system was compatible with all areas of the business, user roles and audiences were introduced allowing different areas of business to see courses and functionality relevant to only them. Alongside the ability to add and update courses, administrators of the site also required various reporting features focussed around specific user engagement.

Our Approach.

In order to meet L’Oreal’s brief, DBLX proposed to build a responsive website which would evolve in line with company requirements, functionality and user base.

In order to ensure we captured all different elements in the system, full and comprehensive user stories were created to detail the various processes which would be undertaken.

Once in agreement with the client on the available functionality for phase 1, DBLX started digital development on ‘Book My Learning’ (BML).

BML included an extensive course and event management system in the administrator dashboard. In this dashboard, admins of the site were able to create and update courses as required, but also had the ability to build and format email notifications for users.

The Result.

Keeping in line with the distinctive L’Oreal branding, BML was built to represent our client and their culture.

Users of the site can expect to see various courses on their dashboard which are all tailored to meet their personal development criteria. Admins of the site can monitor engagement and various other specific material with the use of 10 different reports. User accounts are kept up to date with a daily user import ensuring all data is accurate and allows a consistent interface. The introduction of BML has ensured that L’Oreal’s learning and development plan for colleagues is communicated efficiently and with ease.
